September 08 Tighter Jeans for Guys - about frikkin time!!!!Wow, been a while since I've blogged......busy with my new job - in the fashion industry.......FINALLY!!! Got a job about 6 weeks ago for a local clothing manufacturer. I'm assisting the fashion designer there, learned how to make technical drawings (flats) in Photoshop and Illustrator.....man those programs can do a lot of shit!!! Hard to learn some of it, but once you do, it's awesome. Anyhoo.....just GOTTA comment on how HAPPY I am that tighter jeans are back in fashion for guys!!! Wooo hoooo!!! It's been too long that guys have been hiding their butts and legs inside tent-size jeans!!!........You could never really tell what was in there!!! But now.......yeah.......mmmmmmm.........nice.....eye candy........it's about time! They always wanna see our butts and legs in tight jeans......but they've been hiding their for years! Therefore.......I am really happy about the new tighter jeans they're wearing.......enjoy the pics below! The one with long haired guy in black shirt is my current fave, handsome, sexy singer........David Usher! Goin to his concert on Oct 5th. Can't wait! " August 04 "F.Y.T." Pix - more!!!Wow!! I had a great, productive week!!! I started my FIRST (though temp) JOB AS AN ASSISTANT TO A FASHION DESIGNER!!!!
 I learned how to create clothing line layouts in Photoshop! So hard, but after I got the hang of it, so fun........and seeing the end result it VERRRRRYYYYYY satisfying! I go back next week for a few more days......hopefully will learn how to draw/enhance technical drawings/flats in Illustrator of some of the items in their new Spring 2008 line. Gotta try to teach myself a bit of it at home.

I'm going downtown on Sunday to promote "Cold Side of the Pillow" at the Gay Pride Parade! Should be interesting.......never been to it.....my eyes will be burnin'!!! Supposed to be 300,000 - 400,000 people there......omg!!!
 We're gonna hand out promo flyers for the movie, which will hopefully be coming out in theatres locally in September!

August 01 Pix from "F.Y.T." FilmingYo! Well.....here are the pix from last weekend's filming of "F.Y.T. (Fuck You Topia)". It was lots of fun, the actors were awesome and so fun, Magali was pretty amazing as her Directorial Debut.........and Attila was crazy - as per usual! Our costumes turned out pretttttyyyyy awesome too - check out the cop uniforms!!!
We were filming at Lost Lagoon, and while Armando and Caroline were standing by the side of the road, waiting around for filming, people thought they were REAL cops!!! Cars were slowing down as they approched the "cops".....and even a red Ferrari went by reallllyyyy slowly.........
 That was precious!! We'll be showing this movie in the theatre, as a preview to "Cold Side of the Pillow". Can't wait!!!

We filmed this in my house and also another fight scene in my back alley! Fun day!!!
I thought Alexandra's scenes were great......she acted out the role pretty well.......under Attila's amazing direction!

 July 18 I'm back.....after a while!Thank you....Shaw......for my new internet and digital phone!!! Whew.....it's been over 3 months without them at my new place!! It's weird how you get used to the convenience of having that at home, then you go through withdrawal a bit when it's gone, then you get used to it (kinda!....bet never really 100%!).......then you get it back.......and the feeling is: "WOW!! THIS IS AWESOME! YES! YES! OH YEAHHHHHH!!!" .........(ahem.....pardon......I wasn't having an orgasm there, but maybe I was having a "technology" one!! hahaha....)
So now, I'm catching up on a lot......msn, myspace, facebook, emailing pics to everyone, etc!

What does this mean??? WELL!!!! I am STILL looking for a job in the fashion industry! Can you believe it???? I've had some awesome interviews with famous local and Canadian designers (RozeMerie who designs the Jacqueline Conoir line), Shelley Klassen and her hubby (she designs Blushing Designs), local entrepreuners Nicole and Sarah of Honey Mustard (fashion media services)........and got lots of compliments from them on my resume, my experience, my well-roundedness.......I know!! Right??? (wink, wink!)
But seems there's always something missing in there: production management experience, managerial/retail experience! Fuck!!! It's a fuckin' Catch 22 in this industry, if I ever saw one!! This SAME THING happened to me back when I got my first diploma and I first moved to Vancouver........and now AGAIN!! What can I do but keep on hanging in there, and trying???
Filming on "CSOTP" is done and TT's busy editing.....got lots of pix to put up of the latest, awesome scenes! And now I'm working with Magali (who was Asst. Director on CSOTP).....she's doing a short indie movie called "F.Y.T." - aka - "Fuck You Topia". Very kool and different! I'm doing asst. director and costuming for that! Should be fun, we film at end of July!
Otherwise, just a had a birthday.....still have yet to party - but it's happening this Saturday! Finally.

May 10 Cold Side of the Pillow - film making is THE best!Hey hey! We've been filming......as TT would say....."fast and furious - and I don't mean the movie!"......haha....it's been so much fun: making/shopping for costumes, brainstorming and using the creative juices to come up with costume ideas, helping out as second Assistant Director too.......learning so much!
We filmied pretty intense scenes last weekend at Dominik's house. He's a local photographer and involved in making the "Shoot Me Now" reality show on his website: http://www.shootmenow.ca Check it out - this guy's got some great, original ideas! He's also come out with a clothing line called "The Burning Bush"! - one of the meanings of this label is the face of George Bush in a flame - LUV IT LUV IT LUV IT!!!!
So we filmed lots of scenes with Jenn as Liz......freaking out in her bedroom/tearing and stabbing the bible! (man, that and her terrying screams brought chills to my bones!.....you rock girl!).....and also her slitting her wrists, and Edward finding her passed out on the floor with the blood-soaked carpet around her!! That was pretty intense and I gotta say Jenn and TT are amazing actors!

TTYS! Filming Continues!We're back filming.....after a short break. Last weekend was brutal.......the pouring rain got us all soaked!!.......but fun. It worked great with the sad, crying character of Edward.......as he's crying on the beach at English Bay, the rain is pouring down on him, he's getting soaked, the sky and ocean are gray.....all works really great together for the mood. Attila and Jenn did a hilarious "Titanic" spoof on the patio overlooking the beach! You gotta watch the video!! I did feel real bad for poor Lauren.......getting soaked in her pink jogging suit......and as the day went on (we're talkin' 10 hours in the rain!!!)...just getting wetter and colder......and shivering by the end of the day. I'm amazed you didn't get sick, gurl!! You're a tough cookie, we know! So are you Jenn! Not to mention......a little crazy and twisted......hahaha.....but hey, that's what makes you such an awesome actress! This movie's gonna rock! The other short movie I did with Attila "Take It Like A Man" has gathered some interest here in Vancouver and spread to TV.....so......looks like it'll be on Public Access TV channel as a weekly show starting sometime in the fall! As Idris would say....BOUNCE!! xoxo Dayna  March 03 Dave Cote - Gorgeous Model, Actor & Film Maker!Hey hey hey!  from Vancouver!....Man....we've had too much snow lately - kinda scary, this global warming is really turning climates upside down all over the world! Did you hear? The seas are rising cause of ice melting in North Pole....and they're higher by 4" already.....if this keeps up, Richmond and all sea level cities are going under....scary  But on to more cheerful topics: film making's going good on "Cold Side of the Pillow"...learning a lot! I've also been offered a job on up and coming new local Vancouver magazine called "Pulse", that will feature our beautiful city's current trends/events/fashions......wow!....I'm real excited about this! I'll be a writer for fashion reporting..and hopefully branching out into doing fashion features, such as photo shoots......can't wait! Also, I'm becoming involved with another film maker, David Cote. He was a model at my grad fashion show last November....he is GORGEOUS!!  He's done lots of acting too. He's been branching out into film making and was in Greece recently filming his "Windup" movie. Now he's in Milan, modelling!!! When he comes back, he's gonna start making his next feature film "Inertia"....the script which I'm now reading....and hope to work on this film in costuming! Apparently, Gordy Hoffman (who's the brother of Philip Seymour Hoffman, actor in "Twister", "MI 3") is reading the script now too!! Soooo excited!!! February 20 Working in Film Costuming is a Dream Come True!It's been a while since I blogged.....but here I am!
 Though it's been tough finding my dream job in fashion design, fashion show production or styling (though I've had quite a few job interviews.....the Vancouver fashion industry seems to be too saturated with world fashions.......thanks to technology and the rapid globilization!).....and the competiton's high.....but I did manage to land a job in film costuming!It's been an incredible learning experience, both in costuming, learning movie production, tech aspects of movie making........and now I understand why movie-making days are 12-16 hours long! Extremely tiring, but very rewarding.
This is an independent film and will be released in select theatres in August.

The two painters are Edward, played by Attila Kallai, who's also the film director/producer and Elizabeth played by Jennifer Huva, who's only 18 and this is her first feature film. And there's pix of me doing some filming and wearing the furry, monster costume we created for one of the violent/killing dreams of Edward's. Attila is amazing....only 20, with this being his third feature film, as well as writing the scripts for his movies.
I've met lots of awesome people, including Megali, who's the script supervisor/"Jill of all trades" on the movie. She's here from Paris for a year. She rocks!
Attila has also now made me the Associate Producer.
 There will be a movie premiere in August.......fun!Chow for now!  January 12 Hey! I'm "City Single of the Week"! Kudos to "The Georgia Straight" for letting me be their "City Single of the Week"!!! It's exciting! (Guys are emailing me already!!!)
And just an update on my new career in fashion and the film industry. I'm currently working in costuming for an independent local movie called "Cold Side of the Pillow". It'll be released in select theatres this August!
I'm waiting to hear on another one I may be working on!

Ttys!  December 15 Yup!! '06 has been an incredible year so far....2 weeks left....what else will happen?I gotta say - this year has been one full of new adventures/developments happening to me in my life. I am extremely grateful for them......cause of them....my life is changing, and the way things are going now - I am sooooo excited to see what '07 will bring!
What are these things?
1. Went back to college and got my 2nd Diploma in Fashion Design, Fashion Business and Creative Arts. It was so much fun!....so much hard work!.....but such a confirmation to me that this is my love in my heart.
2. Breaking into the local film industry. Got my first job (starts in Jan) working in costuming for a movie shooting in Vancouver! Movie's called "The Cold Side of the Pillow" - kinda different, about the dark sides of human personalities: OC's (obssessive/compulsives), alkaholics, manic depressives, etc.....should be interesting. The writer and producer is Attila Kallai, local guy who's done about 30 films nationwide. This film be released in August in theatres! Exciting!!
3. Discovering the true meaning of God - the God in Nature - which is all around us, inside of us....and not something to be feared. This discovery came after reading "The Book of Shadows" by Phyllis Currot - a book about the Wiccan way of life, one that's been around long before Christ. It makes complete sense - how do I know that this is the right one? - because it's about love and each and everyone one of us having the power. Read it.....you will be enlightened!
.......so thank you 2006!......I will always remember you.......

The model, Michelle, is from John Casablancas, as well as the hairstylist and hairdresser!
The theme of the shoot was "The West Coast Lifestyl" : from health/fitness/yoga on the beach, to shopping in downtown Vancouver, to the glamorous look for dining out/partying, to a totally creative/punked-out look.........LOVED that one!!!! Check out the photos!!! Are they hot or what?

I'm tired of playing all your foolish games CHORUS: You got no right to make me wait CHORUS You know I love you, you know it's true CHORUS November 10 Dare To Dream - My Grad Fashion Show....will remember it forever.......Wow..........what a day Nov 1st was!!! The day of my graduation fashion show - a show that me and my 10 classmates have been planning for 3 months! Talk about seeing your imagination and the ideas in your head come to life!! On the runway! And getting an awesome response from the audience.
Dare To Dream was an experience of a lifetime........I've never worked so hard for something in my life. But it was sooooooo worth it, the show ROCKED and I got goosebumps and nearly cried watchin the models strut the runway in the clothes and to the music that we chose! My runway segment was called "Red Carpet" - all Hollywood type evening gowns that famous stars would wear. The song I chose was "Object of Your Desire" by Amber (luv her!).......so when my song started and the models started coming out in those sexy gowns......looking so hot & glamourous.....it WAS a dream come true! Wow!!!
I ended up MCing the whole night AND writing the speeches........holy crap........that was a bit nervewracking. In front of 400 people and 12 different media journalists! But I think I did pretty good, considering the mic kept cutting out on me 4 times during my 2nd speech!!!
The day was SO crazy-insane......it started at 8 am, when I had a donut.......then went on all day, all night, til 2 am, which so much to do....there was no time to eat. I ate at 1:30am again when I got home!
And at the end, we all came up on stage for our bows, and were totally shocked when a gun fired huge, long streamers/strings all over us. We hugged and some of us cried. All this while the dance remix of "Dream Weaver" was playing.........I'll never forget this!
We had a record-breaking grad fashion show for the school ever! The most tickets sold, the best venue, the most $ donated to our charity, Canuck Place Children's Hospice......and that amount was $5,940!!!

October 14 Super Saturday Photo Shoot - AWESOME!This day was crazy.......happened about 3 weeks ago......JC organized few teams & each one had a stylist (like me - student in fashion), hairdresser, make-up artist & photographer. My team was awesome - plus of course the model. Crystal is 14 and 6' tall!!! This was her first shoot.
We went to the PNE to take the outdoor pix with water fountain....all those clothes she's wearing are mine, but black skirt, jeans and white Dorinha's are Alexandra's! Man, by the end of this day....I was falling down from exhaustion. It was so worth it tho.

September 16 Gangsta's PartyThis is me and my class from school - we're effin tuff!!! We did this for a birthday present for our awesome teacher Terry (Fashion Illustration) course. This lady rocks! She also does some costume illustrations for TV shows: she did Battlestar Gallactica that was filmed here in Vancouver for a few years (just ended) and now for a new show just starting filming here.
This shoot was fun.....can you spot me? Uh-huh......don't mess with me cuz I'll get my boyz after ya! Plus I got a mean gun! (hahaha)
Also, did 2 fashion shows this week with JC academy models. I was helping Ellen, she's super nice and does a lot of acting in town too. She's gonna be on TV show "Masters of Horror". Ttys....... September 09 You're Invited to my Graduation Fashion Show!!! - @ Four Seasons Hotel on Nov 1st!!!OMG!!! My class graduation fashion show is gonna be at the Four Seasons!! We are sooo excited - no other students at JC have ever pulled this off - I mean this is a 5-star hotel. We got this thanks to my classmate Bonnie's mom and her connections. This totally rocks - and our show is gonna be incredible! The name of the show is "Dare To Dream - JC Graduation Fashion Gala". Each of us will have our segment of about 7 models/outfits & each segment will have our own individual dream. Mine is "Red Carpet" : I dream of designing for the rich & famous in Hollywood. It's gonna be ultra-expensive/classy/star gowns & maybe even a male model dressed for the red carpet. We each choose a song too.
Basically, we're producing the whole show.....from beginning to end.....this is gonna be a TON of work....don't hate me if you don't see me til then!!! But it's pretty exciting - love it when the work is fun - and it's almost always fun in the world of fashion.

 cuz there'll be a 3 course dinner too! Ticket is $55 for dinner and show, $20 for just the show. But I HAVE TO - no if's, and's or but's about it!!! sell 10 tickets for dinner & show plus 10 more for show only. So we thought of the make-up, the hair, Nahida made the veil, we got the clothes in a downtown vintage store.....and the model is Amanda, brand new model from John Casablancas.

Soooooooo sick of it. Had to leave my job today at Sigrid Olsen (Metropolis) because of this. This store's under the Liz Clairborne (huge retailer) umbrella, and Sigrid's an awesome designer, love her clothes. But the people heading this company are cut-throat! Two people disagree....and everyone suffers! What bullshit!
 This has happened many times in my life: person's nice to you in your face
 ....then behind your back they talk down about you  .......what the hell???????!!!!!!!!I'm real person.....no bullshit with me.
It's a sad sad state we're in: lying, gossiping, cheating - whatever it takes to feed our ego and our hunger for satisfaction.
This is why I think I've been born a few hundred years too early, the human race has a lot of growing up to do. And I wanna live in the 25th century!
So once again........I move on......I'm off to another store in Metropolis. Fuck them. One day I'll own my own clothing store and the people working in there will be awesome, funny, real, honest and beautiful (on the inside!) people!

Customized running/skateboard shoes - YOU design your own shoe!!! My drawing below shows an example of a girl/soccer fan's shoe (Whitecaps logo) and the "Kix" logo.
The second one is another of my designs for a skater shoe - pretty cool eh? This is a Fashion Marketing project. If I was to really open a store like this, I think it would really fly!!!
The "Kix" slogan would be: "Pick it. Make it. Wear it. Love it!"
Back to my project.........ttys......be checkin' your commments! August 07 Dream WeaverThough I've had no social life since January.....it's okay. School's awesome, learning so much, plus we started our Fashion Show Production course which is gonna be sooooo fun and exciting. Everyone who's done it says me and my class are in for a ride.
We got a theme for our show (after voting on everyone's ideas) and it's gonna be......
"Dream Weaver". This means that the fashion show will be representative of all our dreams woven into one, culminating in this graduation show, and featuring our favourite designers. LOVE this idea! The song that will open our show will be a remix of the 70's "Dream Weaver" song, with added beats to bring it up-to-date. Used to love this song.....it's beautiful.
I'm totally looking forward to the show - it'll probably be on Nov. 13th. There's a shitload of work to be done on it til then, but I'm so pumped about working on it. I'm inviting ALL my family, friends, neighbours, acquaintances, models/conctacts in fashion, etc. etc. etc! All proceeds for the show go to a charity of our choice, which we still have yet to decide.....(shit!....that reminds me, I gotta submit my suggestion on Wed!.....ok....gotta get back to work!)
This coming week is the last for this term, then we got about 18 days off (which I'll be working BUT am definitely getting away camping for a few days!!!!)....then it's off to 3rd and final term! Should be interesting! TTYS!
